The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research’s poll found that 82 percent of Americans believe that religious liberty protections are important for Christians.
Sixty-one percent of respondents said religious liberty protections are important for Muslims, “ranking Muslims as the least deserving of the protections.”
Meanwhile, 72 percent think it’s important to protect the religious freedom of Jews, and 67 percent think it’s important for Mormons to freely practice their religion.
“In the latest survey, eight in 10 Americans said it was very or extremely important for people like themselves to be allowed to practice their religion freely,” wrote the Associated Press.
