Texas Voter ID

Federal judge blocks Texas voter ID law weeks before the midterm elections

I have mixed emotions about this headline. I think the impulse to have voter ID laws is well intended, but it doesn’t really address the issue at hand. How do you prevent ineligible voters from voting? You see, the only persons who should be allowed to vote are American Citizens.  We don’t want foreigners to have a voice in American politics.  The motor voter laws that allow ANYONE who gets a drivers license to get a voter registration card is the BIGGEST loophole in the entire Voter ID controversy. You don’t have to be an American Citizen to qualify for a Texas Drivers License. I assume this is true across the country. So presenting a drivers license with your photo on it is not the same thing as affirming you are an American Citizen. Now if the drivers license were to have a red stripe or holographic logo that presented you as a Certified American Citizen, then I would have no problem with using voter ID laws.  What do you think?
