Donna Brazile unleashed: Yes, Hillary Clinton did rig the DNC

Former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile has been mostly silent since last November’s election, when President Donald Trump won over Hillary Clinton. On Thursday morning, she broke that silence — thunderously. Writing in Politico, Brazille outlines how she realized just how toothless the Democratic National Committee became during Barack Obama’s presidency and the shady deal by which the Clinton campaign capitalized to take control of the party organization during the primaries. Brazile not only doesn’t hold back, she takes a bat to the knees of Barack Obama, former chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the Hillary Clinton campaign.

In effect, the DNC was a fully owned subsidiary of the Hillary Clinton campaign during the primaries. After explaining how Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s lackluster fundraising, penchant for secrecy, and bloated inter-election payroll decimated the party under Obama, Brazile gets into the heart of the matter. Even the most bro of Bernie Bros couldn’t have imagined just how corrupt the arrangement was that skewed the party toward Clinton over Sanders:

When I got back from a vacation in Martha’s Vineyard I at last found the document that described it all: the Joint Fund-Raising Agreement between the DNC, the Hillary Victory Fund, and Hillary for America.

The agreement—signed by Amy Dacey, the former CEO of the DNC, and Robby Mook with a copy to Marc Elias—specified that in exchange for raising money and investing in the DNC, Hillary would control the party’s finances, strategy, and all the money raised. Her campaign had the right of refusal of who would be the party communications director, and it would make final decisions on all the other staff. The DNC also was required to consult with the campaign about all other staffing, budgeting, data, analytics, and mailings.

I had been wondering why it was that I couldn’t write a press release without passing it by Brooklyn. Well, here was the answer.

Brazile further outlines how these sorts of agreements, and the virtual takeover of a party, are standard fare after a convention, but she was shocked to see how deep this went during the primary season. Brazile was stunned that she, as a party official under Wasserman Schultz, was not privy to just how bad the finances of the committee were and that she was unaware of the agreement.

Brazile writes:

The funding arrangement with HFA and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical. If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.

There you have it. Die-hard Bernie Sanders supporters and conservatives were united in trying to expose the corruption of the Clinton campaign and Hillary Clinton herself. Donna Brazile just told us in Politico how corrupt that campaign was.

Brazile promises to delve deeper into the corruption in her book “Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns That Put Donald Trump in the White House.”

Before taking everything Brazile says at face value, it is important to remember that she fed debate questions, which she called “town hall topics,” to the Hillary Clinton campaign during the primary. So she is not guilt-free in the whole scheme.

Remember also: This is the group of people the Democrats and media wanted to run the country. The whole corrupt lot of them.
