That the Democrats even have the audacity to include some of these is mind-blowing.
As Democrats gather in Philadelphia for the coronation of Hillary Clinton, they are also approving their party platform. There are some pretty amazing parts of the platform. Here are the top five laugh out loud portions of the DNC platform.
On one hand, the platform blames Republicans for the housing crisis; on the other it prescribes more of the actual policies that led to the crisis.
1. Preamble says Democrats “respect differences of perspective and belief.”
Over the Obama years the Democratic Party has used the IRS to silence critics, fined and threatened to jail those expressing religious liberty, taken nuns to court to force them to buy contraception, and have tried to limit political speech. Despite all of this, the party has the chutzpah to put the following in its platform preamble.
2. On housing, the Democrats really don’t understand economics.
The Democratic Party once again doesn’t understand that its policies are what lead to skyrocketing housing costs. On one hand, the platform blames Republicans for the housing crisis; on the other it prescribes more of the actual policies that led to the crisis.
This is a call to reestablish the sub-prime mortgage market, and give incentives for those that cannot afford homes otherwise to purchase them. That is what caused the housing bubble.
On the issue of rental housing, the Democratic Party calls for more subsidies for low income rent assistance which drives up the cost of rental housing for other Americans by artificially raising rents through third party payment.
3. Democrats say they believe, “personnel is policy.”
The Democratic Party would have you believe that the crony capitalist state they have created is not due to their own policies. They had the temerity to put the following in their platform.
Never mind that Hillary Clinton herself has been the beneficiary of millions of dollars for her personal bank account, and campaign from Wall Street, the Democratic Party has supported multiple foxes guarding the hen house in their history. Not only that, they openly put people who are against industry and business as regulators to help destroy the economy.
4. Democrats think top wage earners don’t pay their “fair share.”
This is an old one, but always a face-palm when you see it. Once again the Democrats attack success. Here’s what they have to say on the subject.
The top one percent already pay almost half of all the income taxes collected in the nation. In 2014 the top one percent of wage earners paid 45.7 percent of the individual income taxes. Why not just say you want to punish success, and not couch it in some absurd notion of “fairness.”
5. Democrats say they respect faith and service.
After eight years of full frontal attacks on people of faith, the Democratic Party actually has the audacity to put this in their platform.
“Where possible,” that of course is a pretty big caveat. There are a whole host of places where it is “not possible” for Democrats to support faith-based programs. For starters, they include crisis pregnancy centers, vouchers for parents to choose religious schools, and the ability for Catholic Charities to place orphans in homes according to their religious beliefs.
Those are just some of the more head-scratching parts of the Democratic platform.
