Wait … Didn’t Trump said he didn’t need them?
His campaign in a major downswing and Donald Trump is now publicly begging for the “verbal support” of Republican lawmakers.
While on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning, the presumptive Republican nominee blamed his poor fundraising and lagging poll numbers on the lack of support from Republicans thus far in the campaign.
But what about all those times Trump unabashedly claimed he didn’t need a unified backing? Now, his tone is a bit different.
“I need support from the Republicans. I mean, in some ways I get more support from the Democrats than I do the Republicans,” Trump told the Fox News hosts.
It’s amazing that Mr. Trump acknowledges he is getting “more support from Democrats” than from his own party, but then has no idea how to fix it.
Perhaps if he would stop undercutting conservative efforts and taking Democratic talking points he’d have an easier go at drawing enthusiastic support from Republicans around the country. Just a thought.
