“The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand.” Psalm 121:5
The Creator of the universe is my keeper. The one who has all knowledge and all might, the one who has infinite wisdom and knows me inside and out is my keeper.
The one who has infinite power to crush every enemy who would ever attack me is my keeper. The Lord who foreknew me and called me and saved me and washed my sins away and gave me eternal life and adopted me as his own son is my keeper.
He keeps me in perfect peace (IS 26.3). He keeps me as the apple of his eye (PS 17.8).
I am not my own keeper. I don’t have to protect myself, provide for myself, keep myself safe or defend myself from enemies.
The Lord is my provider and defender.
The President is not my keeper.
My country is not my keeper.
My employer is not my keeper.
The economy is not my keeper.
Even my church, as much as I love it, is not my keeper.
My family and friends, as much as I love them, are not my keepers.
