Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin: Human Like Me?

Alec Baldwin…even the name used to create in me a rather visceral abhorrence. I thought he was the very persona of everything I hated about Hollywood. Narcissistic, egotistical, self-centered, limelight seekers, who loved to whine about how hard they have it living in the spotlight, as they are chauffeured away in their limousine. I admit it. I felt that way about a LOT of Hollywood stars.  Then I read this article. Now I will readily reveal that God has been opening my eyes about a lot of my personal attitudes and reactions which are less than noteworthy to say the least, so I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that this article written by Alec Baldwin made an impression on me. Prior to God working on my heart here recently, I would usually have written this article off as disingenuous as Richard Nixon’s “Goodbye, you won’t have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore” speech. My heart had been prepared to actually read it with an open mind. Surprisingly, a great lot of Alec’s article makes sense. I feel like I understand him and celebrity a little better now than I did before. And maybe I won’t be so quick to judge someone’s motivations before hearing them out. Read this. It might just be an eye opener.

Why This Fight Matters

I gotta hand it to Erick Erickson over at Red State. He has a way of laying out the problem in chewable bites that make the entire mess easier to swallow. If you don’t know what the problem is, you will never come up with a solution. Can the GOP survive as long as “establishment Republicans” stay in charge? The GOP mantra has long been “limited government”. Only problem is the “establishment Republicans” don’t practice what they preach.  Government continues to GROW whether Democrats or Republicans are in charge.  Something has to change.  Erick explains it all clearly in plain language. Is Homosexual Orientation Sinful?

Is there really a Biblical difference between homosexual orientation and homosexual behavior? Is orientation value neutral and only the follow through of behavior sinful? If I am “prone” to alcohol addiction should I resist the temptation or daydream about it. Has my orientation to overuse of alcohol given me license to lust after it without consequence? If I lust after a member of the opposite sex Jesus calls that activity sinful. Follow the link as Denny Burke (the author of “What is the Meaning of Sex?) explores the Biblical definition of sin.
